Why a Routine Tracker Can Work Better Without Streaks
Understand the difference between factual last-time recall and a habit system built around targets, streaks, or performance pressure.
Streaks answer a different question
A streak is designed to encourage repetition. That can suit a daily practice, but it is a poor fit for irregular activities whose timing changes or depends on professional guidance.
Last-time recall asks something simpler: how long has it been since this activity was most recently logged? The answer can be useful without declaring what should happen next.
One current value keeps the interaction small
Lastimo v1 stores one current last value for each preset tracker. Tapping Log now replaces that value and refreshes the elapsed-time wording on the dashboard.
There is no goal to configure and no streak to protect. You can open the app when you need a fact, read the answer, and leave without creating another daily obligation.
- Treat never as a neutral starting state.
- Log only completed activities.
- Use hide and restore to keep the dashboard relevant.
Keep decisions outside the counter
A days-ago label cannot decide when you need health care, maintenance, or exercise. It does not know your circumstances, equipment, or professional recommendations.
Use the label as memory support, then apply the authoritative guidance for the decision at hand. That separation keeps Lastimo useful and appropriately modest.
